Slow Cooker Chicken Philly Cheese Steaks

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced

  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 hoagie rolls or sandwich buns
  • Sliced provolone cheese or cheese of your choice

Instructions:

  1. Place the thinly sliced chicken breasts, sliced onion, sliced green bell pepper, sliced red bell pepper, and minced garlic in the slow cooker.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the chicken broth, low-sodium soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, dried oregano, dried basil, and black pepper.
  3. Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken and vegetables in the slow cooker. Stir gently to coat everything evenly.
  4. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low heat for 5-6 hours or until the chicken is tender and cooked through.
  5. Once the chicken is cooked, use a fork to shred it directly in the slow cooker, mixing it with the vegetables and sauce.
  6. Toast the hoagie rolls or sandwich buns in the oven or on a skillet until lightly crispy.
  7. Open the hoagie rolls and place a generous portion of the slow-cooked chicken and vegetable mixture onto each roll.
  8. Top the chicken mixture with slices of provolone cheese or your preferred cheese.
  9. Return the assembled sandwiches to the oven or skillet for a few minutes to melt the cheese.
  10. Remove the sandwiches from the oven or skillet and close the hoagie rolls.
