Sweetened Condensed Milk Snowball Cookies

  • Prep Time: 15 minutes

  • Chill Time: 30 minutes (recommended)

  • Bake Time: 12–15 minutes

  • Total Time: ~1 hour

  • Difficulty: Easy

  • Yield: ~30 cookies

  •  Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

  • ½ cup sweetened condensed milk

  • 1 ½ tsp vanilla extract

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup finely chopped nuts (e.g., pecans, walnuts, or almonds) – optional

  • ½ to 1 cup powdered sugar, for rolling

 Instructions

Step 1: Make the Dough

  1. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sweetened condensed milk until smooth and fluffy (about 2 minutes).

  2. Mix in the vanilla extract and salt.

  3. Gradually add in the flour, stirring until fully incorporated. The dough will be soft but not sticky.

  4. Fold in the chopped nuts, if using.

Step 2: Chill the Dough

  1. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and chill for 30 minutes. This step helps the cookies hold their shape and enhances flavor.

Step 3: Preheat and Shape

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Scoop and roll the dough into 1-inch balls (about 1 tbsp each) and place 1 inch apart on the baking sheet.

Step 4: Bake

  1. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the bottoms are lightly golden. The tops will remain pale.

  2. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before handling.

Step 5: Roll in Powdered Sugar

  1. While the cookies are still warm but not hot, roll them in a bowl of powdered sugar.

  2. Place on a wire rack to cool completely.

  3. Once cooled, roll them again in powdered sugar for a snowy, festive finish.
