  • 1/2 lb ground sausage
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the Meat Dough:
    • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef (or pork), ground sausage, and one egg.
    • Mix well until fully combined.

  3. Prepare the Cheese Filling:
    • In a medium bowl, mix together the shredded mozzarella cheese, cream cheese, Parmesan cheese, and heavy cream until well combined.

  4. Assemble the Calzones:
    • Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions.
    • On a piece of parchment paper, flatten each portion into a thin, round shape (about 1/4 inch thick).
    • Spread half of the cheese filling on one half of each meat round.
    • Add any optional fillings (bacon, pepperoni, chicken, ham, etc.) on top of the cheese mixture.
  5. Fold and Seal:
    • Carefully fold the meat round over the filling to create a half-moon shape.
    • Press the edges together to seal, using your fingers or a fork to crimp the edges.
  6. Bake:
    • Transfer the calzones to the prepared baking sheet.
    • Beat the remaining egg in a small bowl and brush the top of each calzone with the egg wash.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the calzones are golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Cool and Serve:
    • Allow the calzones to cool for a few minutes before serving.
    • Enjoy your carnivore calzones hot!
