Chaffle burger

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients:

For the Chaffles:

  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (or cheddar)
  • 1/4 cup almond flour (optional, for extra texture)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder (optional, for fluffiness)

For the Burgers:

  • 1 pound ground beef (80% lean)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 4 slices cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or your favorite)
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Pickles
  • Red onion slices
  • Condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, etc.)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Chaffle Batter:
    • In a mixing bowl, whisk the eggs. Add the shredded cheese, almond flour (if using), and baking powder (if using). Mix well until combined.
  2. Cook the Chaffles:
    • Preheat your waffle maker.
    • Lightly grease the waffle maker with cooking spray or a small amount of oil.
    • Pour the chaffle batter into the waffle maker, making sure not to overfill. Cook until the chaffles are golden brown and crispy, usually about 3-5 minutes.
    • Remove the chaffles and set aside. Repeat until all the batter is used, making 8 chaffles.
  3. Prepare the Burger Patties:
    • In a bowl, mix the ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into patties.
  4. Cook the Burger Patties:
    • Heat a skillet or grill to medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
    • During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty and cover the skillet or grill to melt the cheese.
  5. Assemble the Chaffle Burgers:
    • Place a chaffle on a plate, add a lettuce leaf, a burger patty with melted cheese, tomato slices, pickles, and red onion slices. Top with another chaffle.
    • Repeat for the remaining burgers.
  6. Serve:
    • Serve immediately with your favorite condiments on the side.
