  • Preparation Time: 20 minutes

  • Cooking Time: 50–60 minutes

  • Cooling Time: 30 minutes

  • Total Time: ~1 hour 50 minutes

  • Servings: 10 slices

  • Skill Level: Easy to Intermediate

 Intensity Level

  • Baking Difficulty: ★★☆☆☆ (2/5)
This recipe is suitable for beginner to intermediate bakers. While there are a few steps—such as layering and swirling the cinnamon sugar—it doesn’t require any advanced techniques or equipment.

  • Time Commitment: Moderate
Not quite a quick bread in terms of total time, but hands-on time is minimal and straightforward.

 Ingredients

For the Apple Mixture:

  • 2 medium apples (peeled, cored, and diced)

  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

For the Cinnamon Sugar Swirl:

  • 1/3 cup brown sugar (light or dark)

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

For the Bread Batter:

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened

  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 3/4 tsp baking powder

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 cup milk (whole or 2% preferred)

For the Glaze (Optional but Highly Recommended):

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

  • 1–2 tbsp milk

  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract

 Preparation Steps

1. Preheat & Prepare the Pan

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and line it with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.

2. Prepare the Apple Mixture

In a small bowl, toss the diced apples with 2 tbsp sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon. Set aside so the flavors can mingle while you make the batter.

Tip: Use tart apples like Granny Smith or sweet varieties like Honeycrisp for balance. Or mix both!

3. Make the Cinnamon Swirl

In another small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon for your cinnamon swirl layer.

4. Make the Bread Batter

In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. This should take about 2–3 minutes using a hand mixer or whisk.

Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour. Mix until just combined—do not overmix.

5. Assemble the Bread

Spread half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture over the batter, then layer with half of the apple mixture.

Repeat the layers: spread the remaining batter, then top with the rest of the apples and the remaining cinnamon sugar.

Use a butter knife to gently swirl through the batter in a figure-8 motion to create a marbled effect.

Swirling Tip: Don’t overdo it—you want pretty layers, not full blending.

6. Bake the Bread

Bake in the center of the preheated oven for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

If the top is browning too quickly but the center isn’t done, tent the bread loosely with foil after the first 40 minutes.

7. Cool

Let the bread cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then lift it out using the parchment overhang and allow it to cool completely on a wire rack—about 30 minutes more.

8. Add the Glaze (Optional but Delicious!)

Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled loaf for a bakery-style finish.

Let the glaze set for 10 minutes before slicing.

 How to Serve
