Prep Time: 10 minutes

Chill Time (Optional): 30 minutes
-
Total Time: 10–40 minutes
-
Servings: 2 large slushies (or 3 small)
-
Difficulty: Easy
-
Appliance Needed: Ninja Blender (or high-speed blender/slushie machine)
-
Category: Frozen drink / dessert slush
Ingredients
Base:
-
2 cups orange sherbet (store-bought or homemade)
-
1 cup orange juice (preferably pulp-free, chilled)
-
1/2 cup milk or half-and-half (for creaminess)
-
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
-
2 tablespoons sugar or honey (optional, depending on taste)
-
2 cups ice cubes
Optional Add-Ins:
-
1/4 cup heavy cream (for extra creamy texture)
-
1 scoop vanilla ice cream (for richer flavor)
-
Zest of 1 orange (for brighter citrus punch)
-
Pinch of salt (to enhance flavor balance)
Instructions
Step 1: Prep Your Ingredients
Make sure your orange sherbet is slightly softened (leave it out for about 5 minutes). Use chilled orange juice and milk for best slushie texture.
Step 2: Blend in the Ninja
In your Ninja blender (or any high-powered blender), combine:
-
2 cups orange sherbet
-
1 cup orange juice
-
1/2 cup milk or half-and-half
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
Optional sugar or honey
-
Optional cream or ice cream
Add in 2 cups of ice last to help blend evenly.
Step 3: Blend it Up
Pulse on “Crush” or “Ice Cream” mode (depending on your Ninja model), then blend on high for 30–60 seconds until the mixture is smooth, thick, and icy — like a perfect slushie. Add more ice for a thicker consistency, or more juice to thin it out.
Tip: If the slushie separates too quickly, add a handful of frozen mango or a banana slice to help bind it naturally.
Step 4: Taste and Adjust
Taste for sweetness and texture. Add more vanilla, orange zest, or sweetener if needed. Blend again briefly to mix.
Step 5: Serve Immediately
Pour into tall chilled glasses or clear cups. Top with a swirl of whipped cream, orange zest, or a wedge of orange for presentation.
Optional Toppings & Swirls
-
Whipped cream + orange zest
-
Vanilla ice cream scoop on top
-
Crushed vanilla wafers or graham cracker dust
-
Orange syrup drizzle
-
Mini umbrella or orange slice for fun vibes
Tips & Tricks
-
Use frozen juice cubes instead of ice for extra flavor. Freeze orange juice in an ice tray ahead of time!
-
Make it dairy-free with almond or coconut milk and dairy-free sherbet.
-
Want an adult twist? Add a splash of orange liqueur like Grand Marnier or whipped cream vodka for a cocktail slush.
Storage
Best enjoyed fresh. This slushie is meant to be consumed immediately while icy. If needed, you can store leftovers in a covered container in the freezer. Re-blend with a little juice or milk before serving again.
