Ingredients:

For the Shrimp:

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Cooking spray

For the Bang Bang Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup Thai sweet chili sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon Sriracha sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar

For Garnish:

  • Green onions, sliced
  • Sesame seeds
  • Chopped fresh cilantro

Instructions:

Preparing the Shrimp:

  1. Marinate Shrimp: In a bowl, marinate the peeled and deveined shrimp in buttermilk for about 10 minutes.
  2. Prepare Coating Mixture: In a separate bowl, combine cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Coat Shrimp: Remove each shrimp from the buttermilk, letting excess drip off, and coat thoroughly with the cornstarch mixture.
  4. Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  5. Air Fry Shrimp: Lightly coat the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Arrange the coated shrimp in a single layer in the basket, ensuring they are not overcrowded. Cook in batches if necessary. Lightly spray the top of the shrimp with cooking spray.
  6. Air Fry: Cook the shrimp in the air fryer for 8 minutes, turning halfway through, or until they are golden brown and crispy.

Making the Bang Bang Sauce:

  1. Prepare Sauce: While the shrimp is cooking, whisk together mayonnaise, Thai sweet chili sauce, honey, Sriracha sauce, soy sauce, and rice vinegar in a bowl. Adjust the Sriracha to achieve the desired level of spiciness.

Serving:

  1. Coat Shrimp in Sauce: Once the shrimp are cooked, transfer them to a large bowl. Pour the Bang Bang sauce over the cooked shrimp and toss until evenly coated.
  2. Garnish: Sprinkle sliced green onions, sesame seeds, and chopped cilantro over the coated shrimp for garnish.
  3. Serve Hot: Serve the Air Fryer Bang Bang Shrimp immediately while they are hot and crispy.
  4. Enjoy: Enjoy these delicious and spicy air-fried shrimp as an appetizer or as a main dish over rice or salad.

Note: Adjust the spice level of the Bang Bang sauce according to your preferences. Feel free to add more or less Sriracha to suit your taste.
