Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 10-12 minutes
Total Time: 25-27 minutes
Servings: Makes 6 scones

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Additional grated cheese for topping (optional)
  • Chopped chives or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Air Fryer:
    • Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (180°C) for about 3-5 minutes.
  2. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Stir until well combined.
    • Add the cold cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Use your fingertips or a pastry cutter to rub the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
    • Stir in the grated cheddar cheese until evenly distributed.
  3. Form the Dough:
    • Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the milk. Stir gently until a soft dough forms. Be careful not to overmix.
  4. Shape the Scones:
    • Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Pat it into a circle about 1 inch thick.
    • Use a round cookie cutter or the rim of a glass to cut out circles from the dough. Place the scones on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Brush with Egg Wash:
    • Lightly beat the egg in a small bowl. Brush the tops of the scones with the beaten egg using a pastry brush.
    • Sprinkle additional grated cheese on top of each scone, if desired.
  6. Air Fry the Scones:
    • Place the scones in the preheated air fryer basket in a single layer, leaving some space between them for air circulation.
    • Air fry at 350°F (180°C) for 10-12 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Serve:
    • Remove the scones from the air fryer and transfer them to a wire rack to cool slightly.
    • Garnish with chopped chives or parsley, if desired.
    • Serve warm or at room temperature with butter or your favorite spread.
  8. Enjoy:
    • Enjoy these deliciously cheesy air fryer cheese scones as a delightful snack or side dish!

Note:

  • You can customize these scones by adding herbs like thyme or rosemary, or spices like cayenne pepper for extra flavor. Adjust the seasonings according to your taste preferences.
