Air Fryer Homemade Bread

Preparation Time: 15 minutes Rising Time: 1 hour 30 minutes Cooking Time: 20 minutes Total Time: 2 hours 5 minutes Yields: 1 loaf

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water (about 110°F or 43°C)
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 standard packet)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Cooking spray or olive oil for greasing
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon melted butter for brushing (after baking)

Instructions:

  1. Activate Yeast:
    • In a small bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle the active dry yeast over the water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes foamy.
  2. Mix Dough:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead Dough:
    • Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  4. First Rise:
    • Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
  5. Shape and Second Rise:
    • Punch down the risen dough and shape it into a loaf. Place the shaped dough in the air fryer basket or on parchment paper. Allow it to rise for an additional 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat Air Fryer:
    • Preheat your air fryer to 360°F (180°C) during the last 10 minutes of the second rise.
  7. Air Fry:
    • Place the risen dough in the air fryer basket (or on parchment paper) and air fry at 360°F (180°C) for 20 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  8. Cool and Brush with Butter (Optional):
    • Allow the homemade bread to cool on a wire rack. If desired, brush the top with melted butter for a shiny finish.
  9. Slice and Serve:
    • Once completely cooled, slice the bread and enjoy it as is or with your favorite toppings.

Note: Air fryer models may vary, so keep an eye on the bread during the last few minutes of cooking to avoid over-browning. Adjust the cooking time based on your specific air fryer.
