Beef and broccoli lo mein

Ingredients

For the Marinade:

  • 1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

For the Lo Mein:

  • 8 oz (225g) lo mein noodles (or spaghetti)
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for cooking)

For the Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

For Garnish:

  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Beef:
    • In a medium bowl, combine the soy sauce, cornstarch, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Add the sliced flank steak and mix well. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Cook the Noodles:
    • Cook the lo mein noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. Prepare the Sauce:
    • In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, and sesame oil. Set aside.
  4. Cook the Vegetables and Beef:
    • Preheat your Blackstone griddle to medium-high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the griddle.
    • Add the broccoli florets and sliced red bell pepper to the griddle. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until they start to become tender.
    • Push the vegetables to one side of the griddle. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the other side of the griddle.
    • Add the marinated beef in a single layer and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until it is browned and cooked through.
  5. Combine Ingredients:
    • Add the minced garlic and sliced onion to the beef and cook for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
    • Mix the vegetables and beef together on the griddle.
    • Add the cooked noodles to the griddle and pour the sauce over everything. Toss to combine and cook for another 2-3 minutes until everything is well coated and heated through.
  6. Serve:
    • Transfer the beef and broccoli lo mein to a serving platter.
    • Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
