Buon Appétito

Ingredients:

  • 1 large Italian bread loaf (ciabatta, hoagie, or Italian bread)
  • 4 slices Provolone cheese
  • 4 slices Genoa salami
  • 4 slices ham
  • 4 slices pepperoni
  • 4 slices mortadella
  • 4 slices capicola
  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoncini peppers
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives
  • 1/4 cup sliced red onion
  • 1/4 cup sliced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/4 cup Italian dressing
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: mayonnaise, mustard, or Italian vinaigrette

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Slice the Italian bread loaf horizontally to open it up for sandwich assembly. If desired, lightly toast the bread in the oven for a few minutes until just crispy.
  3. Layer the Provolone cheese on the bottom half of the bread.
  4. Arrange the slices of Genoa salami, ham, pepperoni, mortadella, and capicola on top of the cheese.
  5. Scatter the sliced pepperoncini peppers, black olives, red onion, tomatoes, and shredded lettuce over the deli meats.
  6. Season the sandwich with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Drizzle the Italian dressing over the sandwich fillings. If desired, you can also spread mayonnaise, mustard, or Italian vinaigrette on the top half of the bread.
  8. Carefully place the top half of the bread over the sandwich fillings to close the sandwich.
  9. If you’d like, you can wrap the sandwich tightly in aluminum foil and place it in the oven for 5-10 minutes to warm through and meld the flavors.
  10. Slice the sandwich into individual portions and serve immediately.
  11. Buon Appetito! Enjoy your delicious Italian Combo Buon Appetito sandwich!

This sandwich is perfect for picnics, parties, or any time you’re craving a taste of Italy!
