Double Turkey Club Sandwich

Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 5 minutes (toasting bread)
Total Time: 20 minutes
Servings: 2

Ingredients:

  • 6 slices of bread (white, whole wheat, or your choice)
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 4 slices cooked turkey breast
  • 4 slices cooked bacon
  • 2 slices cheddar or Swiss cheese
  • 2 leaves of lettuce
  • 1 medium tomato, thinly sliced
  • 1 small avocado, sliced (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Butter or margarine for toasting (optional)
  • Toothpicks, for securing the sandwich

Instructions:

  1. Toast the Bread:
    • Lightly butter one side of each slice of bread if desired. Toast the bread slices in a toaster or on a skillet over medium heat until golden brown.
  2. Prepare the Ingredients:
    • While the bread is toasting, cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
    • Slice the tomato and avocado.
  3. Assemble the Sandwiches:
    • Lay out 3 slices of toasted bread for each sandwich.
    • Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on one side of each slice of bread.
  4. First Layer:
    • On the first slice of bread, place a leaf of lettuce, 2 slices of turkey breast, a slice of cheese, and a few slices of tomato. Season with a little salt and black pepper.
    • Add the second slice of bread on top, mayonnaise side down.
  5. Second Layer:
    • On top of the second slice of bread, add another leaf of lettuce, 2 slices of turkey breast, 2 slices of bacon, and sliced avocado (if using). Season with a little salt and black pepper.
  6. Top Layer:
    • Place the third slice of bread on top, mayonnaise side down.
  7. Secure and Serve:
    • Secure the sandwich with toothpicks and cut it into halves or quarters to serve.

Tips:

  • For a more flavorful sandwich, you can add a layer of honey mustard or Dijon mustard along with the mayonnaise.
  • You can also add other toppings like sliced red onion, pickles, or a sprinkle of sprouts for extra texture and flavor.
  • Serve the sandwich with a side of chips, a pickle, or a small salad for a complete meal.
