Homemade Pancakes

Preparation Time: 10 minutes

Cooking Time: 10 minutes

Yield: Approximately 12 pancakes

Difficulty Level: Easy

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Cooking spray or additional butter for the pan

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Dry Ingredients:
    • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Combine Wet Ingredients:
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  3. Mix Batter:
    • Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined. It’s okay if the batter is a bit lumpy.
  4. Preheat Pan:
    • Preheat a griddle or non-stick skillet over medium heat. If using a pan, make sure it is well-heated before cooking.
  5. Grease Pan:
    • Lightly coat the cooking surface with cooking spray or a small amount of butter.
  6. Cook Pancakes:
    • For each pancake, pour about 1/4 cup of batter onto the hot griddle or pan. Cook until bubbles form on the surface and the edges start to look set.
  7. Flip Pancakes:
    • Flip the pancakes and cook the other side until golden brown.
  8. Repeat:
    • Continue cooking the remaining batter in batches, adding more cooking spray or butter to the pan as needed.
  9. Keep Warm:
    • If serving the pancakes in batches, keep them warm in a preheated oven (200°F or 95°C) until ready to serve.
  10. Serve:
    • Serve the homemade pancakes with your favorite toppings, such as maple syrup, fresh fruit, whipped cream, or a dusting of powdered sugar.
  11. Enjoy!
    • Enjoy these light and fluffy homemade pancakes for a delightful breakfast or brunch.

Note:

Feel free to customize your pancakes by adding ingredients like blueberries, chocolate chips, or chopped nuts to the batter before cooking. Adjust the sweetness according to your preference.
