pina colada

  • Prep Time: 5 minutes

  • Blend Time: 1–2 minutes

  • Total Time: 6–7 minutes

  • Servings: 2 large (or 3–4 small) slushies

  • Difficulty: Super Easy

  • Equipment: Ninja Blender (or any powerful blender)

 Ingredients

Classic Version (with alcohol):

  • 2 cups frozen pineapple chunks

  • 1/2 cup coconut cream (or cream of coconut for sweeter results)

  • 1/4 cup coconut milk (or regular milk for lighter version)

  • 1/2 cup white rum (or coconut rum, like Malibu)

  • 1–2 tablespoons simple syrup or honey (optional, to taste)

  • 2 cups ice cubes

  • Juice of 1/2 lime (optional, adds brightness)

Mocktail Version (non-alcoholic):

  • 2 cups frozen pineapple

  • 1/2 cup cream of coconut

  • 3/4 cup pineapple juice

  • Juice of 1/2 lime

  • 1–2 cups ice (depending on how slushy you want it)

 Optional Add-Ins

  • Splash of orange juice for a tropical twist

  • 1–2 tablespoons Greek yogurt for extra creaminess

  • Garnish with pineapple wedges, maraschino cherries, or a toasted coconut rim

 Instructions

1. Add Ingredients to Blender

In your Ninja blender (or similar), layer the ingredients in this order for best blending:

  1. Liquid ingredients (rum, coconut cream/milk)

  2. Frozen pineapple

  3. Ice cubes

  4. Lime juice, syrup (if using)

2. Blend Until Smooth

Use the “Frozen Drink” or “Ice Crush” setting on your Ninja. Blend for about 45–60 seconds, or until fully smooth and slushy. You want a thick, creamy, spoonable texture — not too watery!

If needed, scrape down the sides or add an extra splash of coconut milk to keep things moving.

3. Taste and Adjust

Taste and add more syrup, lime, or ice to your preference. Want it boozier? Add an extra splash of rum and pulse.

4. Serve Immediately

Pour into chilled glasses. Garnish with a pineapple slice, maraschino cherry, or cocktail umbrella. For fun, serve in a coconut or hollowed-out pineapple!
