Tequila Sunrise Slushi

  • Prep Time: 5 minutes

  • Blend Time: 2 minutes

  • Total Time: 7–8 minutes

  • Servings: 2 large or 3 small cocktails

  • Difficulty: Easy

  • Appliance Needed: Ninja blender (or similar high-power blender)

 Ingredients

Orange Slush Layer:

  • 2 cups ice cubes

  • 1½ cups orange juice (fresh or bottled, no pulp preferred)

  • 3 oz (2 shots) silver or blanco tequila

  • 1 tablespoon lime juice (optional for brightness)

  • 1 tablespoon agave syrup or simple syrup (optional, to taste)

Grenadine Pour:

  • 2–3 tablespoons grenadine syrup

Garnishes (Optional):

  • Orange slice or lime wheel

  • Maraschino cherry

  • Mini umbrella or cocktail skewer

Instructions

1. Blend the Orange Slush

In your Ninja blender, combine the ice, orange juice, tequila, lime juice, and syrup (if using). Blend using the Frozen Drink or Ice Crush mode until thick, smooth, and slushy — about 45–60 seconds.

If too thick, add a splash of orange juice. If too runny, add more ice and pulse.

2. Pour Into Glasses

Divide the slushy mixture into 2–3 tall glasses, filling about ¾ of the way up.

3. Add the Sunrise Effect

Slowly pour grenadine syrup down the side of each glass. It will sink to the bottom, creating a beautiful gradient from red to orange — just like a sunrise.

Pro Tip: Pour over the back of a spoon to gently guide the grenadine for more control.

4. Garnish and Serve

Top with an orange slice and maraschino cherry, and serve immediately with a straw or swizzle stick. Stir gently before drinking if you want a blended flavor, or sip through the layers.

Mocktail Version: Sunrise Slushi Without Tequila

Want to make it family-friendly or alcohol-free? Just skip the tequila and replace it with:

  • Extra orange juice

  • A splash of lemon-lime soda or sparkling water for fizz

  • Optional: Add frozen mango or pineapple for flavor and texture
