SLOW COOKER HONEY GARLIC WINGS
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 3-4 hours on high, 6-8 hours on low
Servings: 4-6
Difficulty Level: Easy
Ingredients:
- 2.5 lbs (about 1.1 kg) chicken wings, split at joints, tips discarded
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
- Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Prep Chicken Wings:
- If not already split, cut the chicken wings at the joints and discard the wing tips. Pat them dry with paper towels.
- Season Wings:
- Season the chicken wings with salt and black pepper.
- Make Sauce:
- In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, ketchup, minced garlic, grated ginger, olive oil, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using).
- Coat Wings:
- Place the chicken wings in the slow cooker and pour the honey garlic sauce over them. Toss the wings to coat them evenly in the sauce.
- Cook in Slow Cooker:
- Cover and cook on high for 3-4 hours or on low for 6-8 hours. The wings should be tender and cooked through.
- Optional Crisping Step (For Crispy Texture):
- Preheat your oven broiler. Transfer the cooked wings to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Broil for 3-5 minutes, turning halfway through, until the wings get a crispy texture. Watch closely to prevent burning.
- Garnish:
- Sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped green onions over the wings for garnish.
- Serve:
- Serve the Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Wings hot, and enjoy!
Note:
- Adjust the amount of honey and soy sauce according to your sweetness and saltiness preferences.
- The crushed red pepper flakes add heat, adjust or omit based on your spice tolerance.
- For a glossy finish, brush the wings with extra sauce before serving.
- You can also finish the wings on a grill for a smoky flavor instead of broiling in the oven.
