SLOW COOKER HONEY GARLIC WINGS

SLOW COOKER HONEY GARLIC WINGS

Preparation Time: 10 minutes

Cooking Time: 3-4 hours on high, 6-8 hours on low

Servings: 4-6

Difficulty Level: Easy

Ingredients:

  • 2.5 lbs (about 1.1 kg) chicken wings, split at joints, tips discarded
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prep Chicken Wings:
    • If not already split, cut the chicken wings at the joints and discard the wing tips. Pat them dry with paper towels.
  2. Season Wings:
    • Season the chicken wings with salt and black pepper.
  3. Make Sauce:
    • In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, ketchup, minced garlic, grated ginger, olive oil, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using).
  4. Coat Wings:
    • Place the chicken wings in the slow cooker and pour the honey garlic sauce over them. Toss the wings to coat them evenly in the sauce.
  5. Cook in Slow Cooker:
    • Cover and cook on high for 3-4 hours or on low for 6-8 hours. The wings should be tender and cooked through.
  6. Optional Crisping Step (For Crispy Texture):
    • Preheat your oven broiler. Transfer the cooked wings to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Broil for 3-5 minutes, turning halfway through, until the wings get a crispy texture. Watch closely to prevent burning.
  7. Garnish:
    • Sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped green onions over the wings for garnish.
  8. Serve:
    • Serve the Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Wings hot, and enjoy!

Note:

  • Adjust the amount of honey and soy sauce according to your sweetness and saltiness preferences.
  • The crushed red pepper flakes add heat, adjust or omit based on your spice tolerance.
  • For a glossy finish, brush the wings with extra sauce before serving.
  • You can also finish the wings on a grill for a smoky flavor instead of broiling in the oven.
