Cooking Time: 12 minutes
Servings: 8 scones
Difficulty Level: Easy
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small cubes
- 1 ripe banana, mashed
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat Air Fryer:
- Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (180°C).
- Prepare Scone Dough:
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add the cold cubed butter and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add Wet Ingredients:
- In a separate bowl, mix together the mashed banana, chocolate chips, milk, and vanilla extract. Add this mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Form Scones:
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Pat it into a circle about 1 inch thick. Cut the circle into 8 wedges.
- Egg Wash:
- Place the scones on a parchment-lined tray. Brush the tops with the beaten egg to create a golden finish during baking.
- Air Fry:
- Arrange the scones in the air fryer basket, leaving space between them. Air fry at 350°F (180°C) for 12 minutes or until the scones are golden brown and cooked through.
- Cool:
- Allow the scones to cool for a few minutes in the air fryer before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Dust with Powdered Sugar:
- Optionally, dust the cooled scones with powdered sugar before serving.
- Serve:
- Enjoy these delicious Air Fryer Banana Chocolate Chip Scones with a cup of tea or coffee.
Note:
- Ensure your butter is cold for the best texture in the scones.
- Be gentle when mixing the wet and dry ingredients to avoid overworking the dough.
- Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sugar according to your preference.
- Experiment with different add-ins like nuts or dried fruit for variety.
