Sesame Cauliflower and Broccoli

Preparation Time: 15 minutes Cooking Time: 20 minutes Total Time: 35 minutes Recipe Intensity: Easy

Ingredients:

  • 1 small head cauliflower, cut into florets
  • 1 small head broccoli, cut into florets
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free option)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds, plus extra for garnish
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: red pepper flakes for heat
  • Chopped green onions, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cauliflower florets, broccoli florets, sesame oil, minced garlic, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey or maple syrup, sesame seeds, salt, pepper, and optional red pepper flakes. Toss everything together until the vegetables are well coated with the sauce mixture.
  3. Spread the seasoned cauliflower and broccoli evenly on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer.
  4. Roast the vegetables in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until they are tender and lightly browned, tossing halfway through the cooking time for even roasting.
  5. Remove the roasted cauliflower and broccoli from the oven and transfer them to a serving dish.
  6. Garnish with additional sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
  7. Serve the Sesame Cauliflower and Broccoli hot as a flavorful and nutritious side dish or as a light vegetarian main course.

Note: You can adjust the seasoning according to your taste preferences. If you prefer a stronger sesame flavor, you can add a bit more sesame oil or sprinkle extra sesame seeds before serving. This dish pairs well with rice or noodles for a complete meal.
