Preparation Time: 15 minutes

Cooking Time: 12 minutes

Servings: 8 scones

Difficulty Level: Easy

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small cubes
  • 1 ripe banana, mashed
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Air Fryer:
    • Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (180°C).
  2. Prepare Scone Dough:
    • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add the cold cubed butter and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add Wet Ingredients:
    • In a separate bowl, mix together the mashed banana, chocolate chips, milk, and vanilla extract. Add this mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Form Scones:
    • Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Pat it into a circle about 1 inch thick. Cut the circle into 8 wedges.
  5. Egg Wash:
    • Place the scones on a parchment-lined tray. Brush the tops with the beaten egg to create a golden finish during baking.
  6. Air Fry:
    • Arrange the scones in the air fryer basket, leaving space between them. Air fry at 350°F (180°C) for 12 minutes or until the scones are golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Cool:
    • Allow the scones to cool for a few minutes in the air fryer before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Dust with Powdered Sugar:
    • Optionally, dust the cooled scones with powdered sugar before serving.
  9. Serve:
    • Enjoy these delicious Air Fryer Banana Chocolate Chip Scones with a cup of tea or coffee.

Note:

  • Ensure your butter is cold for the best texture in the scones.
  • Be gentle when mixing the wet and dry ingredients to avoid overworking the dough.
  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sugar according to your preference.
  • Experiment with different add-ins like nuts or dried fruit for variety.
