Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour 25 minutes
Yield: 4 flatbreads
Ingredients:
For the Dough:
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
For the Garlic Butter:
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- Salt, to taste
Instructions:
Prepare the Dough:
- Activate Yeast:
- In a small bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the water and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Combine Dry Ingredients:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center.
- Mix Dough:
- Pour the activated yeast mixture into the well. Add olive oil. Stir until the dough comes together.
- Knead Dough:
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
Make the Garlic Butter:
- Prepare Garlic Butter:
- In a small bowl, mix melted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and a pinch of salt. Set aside.
Shape and Cook the Flatbreads:
- Preheat Oven or Stovetop:
- Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C) or preheat a griddle or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Divide Dough:
- Divide the risen dough into 4 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball.
- Roll Out Flatbreads:
- On a floured surface, roll each ball into a thin circle or oval shape.
- Cook Flatbreads:
- If using an oven, place the rolled-out dough on a baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden and cooked through. If using a griddle or skillet, cook each flatbread for about 2-3 minutes on each side until lightly browned and cooked through.
- Brush with Garlic Butter:
- Once the flatbreads are cooked, brush them with the prepared garlic butter while they are still warm.
- Serve:
- Serve the garlic flatbreads warm as a delicious side or appetizer.
Enjoy your Garlic Flatbreads!
Note:
- You can customize the garlic butter by adding a pinch of red pepper flakes or a squeeze of lemon juice for extra flavor.
