Making bread in an air fryer is a quick and convenient way to enjoy fresh homemade bread. Here’s a simple recipe to make a basic white bread loaf using an air fryer:
Homemade Air Fryer Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup (240ml) warm water (about 110°F or 45°C)
- 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 1/2 cups (300g) all-purpose flour (plus extra for kneading)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (or melted butter)
Instructions:
- Activate the Yeast:
- In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Mix the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Mix until the dough starts to come together. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour, a tablespoon at a time.
- Knead the Dough:
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- First Rise:
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
- Shape the Dough:
- After the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Turn it out onto a floured surface and shape it into a loaf that will fit into your air fryer basket.
- Second Rise:
- Place the shaped dough into a greased or parchment-lined air fryer basket. Cover it with a damp cloth and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes until it has doubled in size.
- Preheat the Air Fryer:
- Preheat your air fryer to 320°F (160°C).
- Bake the Bread:
- Lightly brush the top of the dough with olive oil or melted butter.
- Place the basket in the preheated air fryer and bake for 20-25 minutes. Check the bread halfway through; if the top is browning too quickly, cover it with a piece of aluminum foil.
- The bread is done when it is golden brown on top and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Cool the Bread:
- Remove the bread from the air fryer and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Tips:
- Flour Types: You can experiment with different types of flour, such as whole wheat or bread flour, but you may need to adjust the amount of water accordingly.
- Add-Ins: Consider adding herbs, cheese, or garlic to the dough for extra flavor.
- Storage: Store any leftover bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze the bread.
Enjoy your fresh homemade air fryer bread!
