Cheesy garlic bread
Sourdough Cheesy Garlic Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 large sourdough loaf (either homemade or store-bought)
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 3-4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried parsley)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)
- Extra parsley, for garnish
Instructions:
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Step 2: Prepare the Garlic Butter
- In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix until well combined.
Step 3: Slice the Sourdough Loaf
- Using a serrated knife, cut the sourdough loaf into slices without cutting all the way through. You want the slices to still be attached at the bottom, creating a “pull-apart” effect.
Step 4: Spread the Garlic Butter
- Spread the garlic butter mixture generously between each slice of the sourdough loaf, making sure to get butter into every nook and cranny.
Step 5: Add the Cheese
- Mix together the mozzarella, cheddar (if using), and Parmesan cheeses.
- Stuff the shredded cheese mixture between each slice of bread and on top of the loaf.
Step 6: Bake the Bread
- Wrap the entire loaf loosely in aluminum foil and place it on a baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.
- After 15 minutes, unwrap the foil and bake for an additional 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly and the bread is slightly crispy on the edges.
Step 7: Garnish and Serve
- Remove the cheesy garlic bread from the oven and sprinkle with extra fresh parsley for garnish, if desired.
- Serve hot and pull apart the slices to enjoy!
Tips:
- Customize the Cheese: You can use your favorite cheeses like Gouda, provolone, or Monterey Jack for a different flavor.
- Garlic Intensity: If you prefer a milder garlic flavor, use roasted garlic instead of raw garlic.
- Make-Ahead: Prepare the bread with garlic butter and cheese, wrap it in foil, and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. Bake when ready.
