Crockpot Barbecue Ribs

Recipe: Crockpot Barbecue Ribs

Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 6-8 hours (low) or 3-4 hours (high)
Serves: 4-6

Ingredients:

For the Ribs:

  • 2 racks baby back ribs
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)

For the Barbecue Sauce:

  • 1 1/2 cups barbecue sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke (optional)

Instructions:

 Prep the Ribs:

  1. Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs for more tenderness.
  2. Season the ribs with salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper.

 Combine Barbecue Sauce:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and liquid smoke (if using).

Slow Cook the Ribs:

  1. Cut the racks of ribs into sections to fit into the slow cooker.
  2. Place the ribs in the slow cooker, standing them up against the walls.
  3. Pour the barbecue sauce mixture over the ribs, ensuring they are well-coated.
  4. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours. The meat should be tender and easily pull away from the bone.

Finish Under the Broiler (Optional):

  1. Preheat your oven broiler.
  2. Carefully transfer the ribs to a baking sheet lined with foil.
  3. Brush additional barbecue sauce over the ribs.
  4. Broil for 3-5 minutes until the edges are caramelized and slightly crispy.

Serve:

  1. Serve the Crockpot Barbecue Ribs hot.
  2. Optionally, brush with more barbecue sauce before serving.

Note: You can finish the ribs on an outdoor grill for a smoky flavor instead of broiling.

These Crockpot Barbecue Ribs are fall-off-the-bone tender and packed with flavor. Enjoy the convenience of slow cooking for a delicious and easy meal!
