Ever Pepper Steak

Absolutely! Here’s a recipe for Pepper Steak:

Pepper Steak

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 pounds beef steak (sirloin or flank), sliced thinly against the grain
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 bell peppers (green, red, or a mix), thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Optional: Sliced green onions for garnish

Directions:

  1. Prep the Beef:
    • Slice the beef thinly against the grain and set it aside.
  2. Make the Sauce Mixture:
    • In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch, soy sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, and black pepper. Set aside.
  3. Cook the Beef:
    • Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the sliced beef and cook until it’s browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set it aside.
  4. Sauté Vegetables:
    • In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of vegetable oil if needed. Sauté the sliced onions, bell peppers, and minced garlic until they start to soften, for about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Combine and Cook:
    • Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the sautéed vegetables.
    • Give the sauce mixture a quick stir to ensure the cornstarch is well incorporated and then pour it over the beef and vegetables in the skillet.
  6. Simmer and Thicken:
    • Cook and stir continuously until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and vegetables, about 2-3 minutes. The sauce will become glossy.
  7. Garnish and Serve:
    • If desired, garnish with sliced green onions.
    • Serve the pepper steak hot over rice or noodles.
