FRIED CABBAGE

FRIED CABBAGE

Preparation Time: 20 minutes Cooking Time: 15 minutes Servings: 4

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium-sized cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Cabbage:
    • Remove any outer leaves from the cabbage, cut it into quarters, and remove the core. Thinly slice the cabbage.
  2. Saute Onion and Garlic:
    • In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Add Cabbage:
    • Increase the heat to medium-high and add the sliced cabbage to the skillet. Stir well to combine with the onions and garlic.
  4. Seasoning:
    • Sprinkle red pepper flakes, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper over the cabbage. Stir to evenly coat the cabbage with the spices.
  5. Cook Until Tender:
    • Cook the cabbage, stirring occasionally, for about 10-12 minutes or until it becomes tender but still retains a bit of crunch.
  6. Finish with Butter:
    • Add unsalted butter to the skillet and stir until it melts, coating the cabbage and adding richness to the dish.
  7. Adjust Seasoning:
    • Taste the fried cabbage and adjust the seasoning if needed. Add more salt, pepper, or red pepper flakes according to your preference.
  8. Garnish and Serve:
    • If desired, garnish the fried cabbage with fresh parsley for a burst of color and added freshness.
  9. Serve Warm:
    • Transfer the fried cabbage to a serving dish and serve it warm as a flavorful side dish.

Note: Feel free to customize this recipe by adding cooked bacon, sausage, or your favorite herbs for additional flavor.

Enjoy your delicious and comforting Fried Cabbage! It pairs well with a variety of main dishes and is perfect for a quick and flavorful side.
