Ingredients:

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

For the Hamburger Steak:

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, chopped onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Mix until well combined and form the mixture into four oval-shaped patties.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Cook the hamburger steaks for 4-5 minutes per side or until browned and cooked to your desired doneness.
  5. Remove the steaks from the skillet and set them aside.

For the Creamy Onion Gravy:

  1. In the same skillet, add sliced onions and cook until softened and lightly caramelized.
  2. Add butter to the onions and let it melt.
  3. Sprinkle flour over the onions and butter, stirring to form a roux.
  4. Gradually whisk in beef broth and heavy cream until the mixture thickens.
  5. Season the gravy with salt and black pepper to taste.
  6. Return the cooked hamburger steaks to the skillet, spooning the creamy onion gravy over them.
  7. Simmer for an additional 5-7 minutes until the steaks are heated through.

To Serve:

  1. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired.
