 Introduction

Smoked Kielbasa with Noodles is a quick and hearty one-skillet meal featuring smoky Polish sausage, tender egg noodles, and sautéed onions — all tossed in a light buttery sauce. It’s the perfect comfort food, especially for weeknights, and comes together in about half an hour with minimal prep.

This recipe is budget-friendly, kid-approved, and endlessly adaptable. Serve it as a main dish or bulk it up with vegetables like cabbage, mushrooms, or bell peppers.

 Ingredients

Simple pantry and fridge staples!

  • 12 oz to 1 lb smoked kielbasa, sliced into ¼-inch rounds

  • 12 oz wide egg noodles (or your preferred pasta)

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • 1 medium yellow onion, thinly sliced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)

  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley or chives (for garnish)

  • Optional: ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (for a cheesy finish)

 Instructions

 Step 1: Cook the Noodles

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the egg noodles according to package directions until just tender (about 7–8 minutes).
Drain and set aside. Toss with a touch of olive oil or butter to prevent sticking.

 Step 2: Brown the Kielbasa

While the noodles cook, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the sliced kielbasa in a single layer and cook for 3–5 minutes per side, or until nicely browned and caramelized. Remove kielbasa and set aside.

Step 3: Sauté Onion & Garlic

In the same skillet, melt 2 tablespoons butter.
Add the sliced onion and sauté over medium heat until soft and golden (about 6–8 minutes).
Stir in the garlic and cook for 30–60 seconds, until fragrant.

 Step 4: Combine Everything

Return the cooked kielbasa to the skillet with the onions and garlic.
Add the cooked noodles and toss everything together.

Season with:

  • Salt and pepper

  • Smoked paprika for a deeper flavor (optional)

  • Red pepper flakes for a hint of heat (optional)

Stir to coat evenly and heat through for 2–3 minutes.

Step 5: Garnish and Serve

Remove from heat and garnish with chopped parsley or chives.

For extra richness, stir in Parmesan cheese just before serving. Serve hot.
