Succulent Garlic Butter Steak Bites
Succulent Garlic Butter Steak Bites Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ lb (680g) steak, cut into 1-inch cubes (such as sirloin, ribeye, or tenderloin)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter, divided
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh thyme leaves (or 1 tsp dried thyme)
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:
- Prep the Steak:
- Pat the steak cubes dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture (this helps achieve a good sear).
- Season the steak cubes generously with salt and black pepper.
- Sear the Steak Bites:
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil.
- Once the oil is hot and shimmering, add the steak cubes in a single layer. Be careful not to overcrowd the pan; cook in batches if necessary.
- Sear the steak cubes for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until they develop a deep, golden-brown crust. The interior should be medium-rare to medium, depending on your preference.
- Remove the steak bites from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
- Make the Garlic Butter Sauce:
- In the same skillet, lower the heat to medium and add 2 tbsp of the butter.
- Once the butter has melted, add the minced garlic and fresh thyme. Sauté for about 30 seconds to 1 minute, or until the garlic is fragrant and slightly golden. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
- Add the remaining 2 tbsp of butter to the skillet and stir until melted.
- Combine and Serve:
- Return the steak bites to the skillet and toss them in the garlic butter sauce until they are well-coated and heated through, about 1-2 minutes.
- Remove from heat and sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley.
- Serve:
- Transfer the steak bites to a serving platter.
- Serve immediately with toothpicks as an appetizer or with a side of your choice for a main course.
Tips:
- Steak Choice: Sirloin is a great choice for its balance of tenderness and flavor. Ribeye or tenderloin will be even more tender and flavorful but more expensive.
- Don’t Overcrowd the Pan: For the best sear, cook the steak bites in batches if needed. Overcrowding will steam the steak instead of searing it.
- Garlic Butter Sauce: Be careful not to burn the garlic, as it can become bitter. Keep the heat moderate while making the sauce.
- Additional Flavors: For added flavor, try adding a splash of Worcestershire sauce, a squeeze of lemon juice, or a pinch of red pepper flakes to the garlic butter sauce.
Serving Suggestions:
- Serve these garlic butter steak bites with a side of mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or over a bed of rice.
- They also make a great appetizer on their own or with a dipping sauce like chimichurri or garlic aioli.
