3 Envelope Roast
3 Envelope Roast
Ingredients:
- 1 (3-4 pound) beef chuck roast
- 1 envelope dry ranch dressing mix
- 1 envelope dry Italian dressing mix
- 1 envelope dry brown gravy mix
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: Chopped fresh herbs for garnish
Directions:
- Preparation:
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
- Prepare the Roast:
- Pat the chuck roast dry with paper towels. Season the roast generously with salt and pepper.
- Sear the Roast:
- In an oven-safe Dutch oven or a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear the roast on all sides until it develops a golden-brown crust. This step helps to lock in flavors.
- Prepare the Seasoning Mix:
- In a small bowl, combine the dry ranch dressing mix, dry Italian dressing mix, and dry brown gravy mix.
- Coat the Roast:
- Sprinkle the combined seasoning mix over the seared roast, ensuring it covers the entire surface.
- Add Liquid:
- Pour the beef broth and water into the Dutch oven or skillet, around the roast but not over it, to preserve the seasoning crust.
- Cover and Bake:
- Cover the Dutch oven with a lid or tightly cover the skillet with foil.
- Place the roast in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 3-4 hours, or until the roast is fork-tender and easily shreds.
- Rest and Serve:
- Once cooked, remove the roast from the oven. Allow it to rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing or shredding.
- Optionally, garnish with chopped fresh herbs before serving.
Yield:
This recipe serves approximately 6-8 people.
