Ingredients
- 4 cups cubed day-old bread (French bread, brioche, or challah)
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 cup raisins (optional)
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
- Vanilla sauce, caramel sauce, or whipped cream (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- Prepare the Bread:
- Grease a baking dish that fits into your air fryer.
- Place the cubed bread into the baking dish. If using raisins, sprinkle them evenly over the bread.
- Make the Custard:
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg until well combined.
- Combine Bread and Custard:
- Pour the custard mixture over the bread cubes, making sure all pieces are soaked.
- Gently press down on the bread cubes to ensure they absorb the custard evenly.
- Allow the mixture to sit for about 10 minutes so the bread can fully soak up the custard.
- Preheat the Air Fryer:
- Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for about 3 minutes.
- Cook the Bread Pudding:
- Place the baking dish into the air fryer basket.
- Air fry at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Serve:
- Remove the bread pudding from the air fryer and let it cool slightly.
- Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm.
- Top with vanilla sauce, caramel sauce, or whipped cream, if desired.
