Ingredients

  • 4 cups cubed day-old bread (French bread, brioche, or challah)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup raisins (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • Vanilla sauce, caramel sauce, or whipped cream (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bread:
    • Grease a baking dish that fits into your air fryer.
    • Place the cubed bread into the baking dish. If using raisins, sprinkle them evenly over the bread.
  2. Make the Custard:
    • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg until well combined.
  3. Combine Bread and Custard:
    • Pour the custard mixture over the bread cubes, making sure all pieces are soaked.
    • Gently press down on the bread cubes to ensure they absorb the custard evenly.
    • Allow the mixture to sit for about 10 minutes so the bread can fully soak up the custard.
  4. Preheat the Air Fryer:
    • Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for about 3 minutes.
  5. Cook the Bread Pudding:
    • Place the baking dish into the air fryer basket.
    • Air fry at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Serve:
    • Remove the bread pudding from the air fryer and let it cool slightly.
    • Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm.
    • Top with vanilla sauce, caramel sauce, or whipped cream, if desired.
