Air Fryer Cheese Scones

Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Intensity: Easy
Yields: 8 scones

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives (optional, for added flavor)

Instructions:

 Preheat the Air Fryer:

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).

 Mix Dry Ingredients:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.

Incorporate Butter:

  1. Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to incorporate the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

 Add Cheese and Chives:

  1. Stir in the grated cheddar cheese and chopped chives, distributing them evenly throughout the mixture.

 Form Dough:

  1. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the buttermilk.
  2. Gently mix until just combined. Do not overmix; the dough should be soft and slightly sticky.

 Shape Scones:

  1. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface.
  2. Pat the dough into a circle about 1 inch thick.
  3. Use a round biscuit cutter to cut out scones. Place the scones on a parchment-lined tray.

 Air Fry:

  1. Arrange the scones in the air fryer basket, leaving space between them.
  2. Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 10 minutes or until the scones are golden brown and cooked through.

 Serve:

  1. Allow the scones to cool for a few minutes before serving.
  2. Enjoy the Air Fryer Cheese Scones warm with butter or your favorite spread.

Optional: Add a touch of extra grated cheese on top of each scone before air frying for a cheesy crust.
