For the Sauce:

  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Air Fryer:
    • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare Chicken:
    • Season chicken breasts with salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and dried oregano. Drizzle olive oil over the chicken and rub the seasonings to coat evenly.
  3. Air Fry Chicken:
    • Place the seasoned chicken breasts in the air fryer basket. Air fry for 18-22 minutes, flipping halfway through, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the chicken is golden and crispy.
  4. Prepare Sauce:
    • While the chicken is cooking, prepare the sauce. In a small saucepan, combine tomato sauce, balsamic vinegar, Dijon mustard, honey or maple syrup, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper. Simmer over low heat for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Add Toppings:
    • When the chicken is almost done, place a slice of ham on each chicken breast, followed by a slice of mozzarella cheese. Close the air fryer and let it cook for an additional 2-3 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
