Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 25 minutes
Total Time: 35 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground Italian sausage or ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Sliced pepperoni (optional)
  • Fresh basil leaves, chopped, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook Meat and Vegetables:
    • In a large skillet, cook the ground Italian sausage or beef over medium heat until browned and cooked through. Add diced onion, bell pepper, and sliced mushrooms. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Season the Mixture:
    • Stir in the pizza sauce, dried oregano, dried basil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine all the flavors.
  4. Assemble Pizza Bake:
    • Transfer the meat and vegetable mixture to a greased 9×9-inch baking dish or a similar-sized oven-safe dish. Spread it out evenly in the dish.
  5. Add Cheese and Toppings:
    • Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the meat mixture. If using, place sliced pepperoni on top of the cheese. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over everything.
  6. Bake in the Oven:
    • Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the edges are golden brown.
  7. Garnish and Serve:
    • Once done, remove the crustless pizza bake from the oven. Garnish with chopped fresh basil leaves, if desired.
  8. Slice and Enjoy:
    • Let the pizza bake cool slightly before slicing into squares or wedges. Serve hot and enjoy this delicious and low-carb alternative to traditional pizza!

Note:

  • You can customize this recipe by adding other pizza toppings such as olives, onions, sausage, or mushrooms.
  • For a spicier version, add crushed red pepper flakes or sliced jalapeños to the meat mixture before baking.
