Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs ground beef (85% lean)
- 3/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
Topping
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp mustard
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Prepare the Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, thyme, and smoked paprika. Mix until just combined.
- Shape the Meatloaf: Transfer the mixture into the prepared loaf pan and press it down evenly.
- Prepare the Topping: In a small bowl, mix ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard. Spread the mixture evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
- Bake the Meatloaf: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 50-60 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- Rest and Serve: Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm with mashed potatoes and vegetables.
