-
2 tbsp flour
-
2 cups beef broth
-
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
-
Salt & pepper to taste
-
Optional: 1/2 tsp thyme or parsley
Instructions
Step 1: Make the Steaks
-
In a mixing bowl, combine all steak ingredients.
-
Mix gently with your hands (don’t overwork the meat).
-
Form into 4 oval patties, about 1/2–3/4 inch thick.
Step 2: Brown the Patties
-
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat with a splash of oil.
-
Sear patties for 3–4 minutes per side until browned but not fully cooked.
-
Remove and set aside on a plate.
Step 3: Make the Gravy
-
In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
-
Add onions and mushrooms, and sauté until softened and golden (about 5–7 minutes).
-
Sprinkle in flour and stir well for 1–2 minutes to form a roux.
-
Slowly whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire, scraping up browned bits.
-
Bring to a gentle simmer until slightly thickened.
Step 4: Simmer the Steaks
-
Return the patties to the pan, nestling them in the gravy.
-
Cover and simmer on low for 15–20 minutes, or until cooked through (internal temp of 160°F/71°C).
-
Stir occasionally and spoon gravy over the patties.
