Ingredients:

  • 4 large sweet onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese (optional)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare Onions:
    • Thinly slice the sweet onions.
  3. Combine Ingredients:
    • In a large bowl, combine the sliced onions, melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, dried rosemary, salt, and black pepper. Toss until the onions are evenly coated.
  4. Bake in Casserole Dish:
    • Transfer the seasoned onions to a greased or lined casserole dish.
  5. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 40-45 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onions are golden brown and caramelized.
  6. Optional Cheese Topping:
    • If using cheese, sprinkle the shredded Swiss cheese over the top of the caramelized onions during the last 5-7 minutes of baking. Let it melt and develop a golden crust.
  7. Garnish and Serve:
    • Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh chopped parsley, and serve hot.
  8. Enjoy!
