Preparation Time: 15 minutes

Cooking Time: 30 minutes

Servings: 4-6

Difficulty Level: Easy

Ingredients:

  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyere or Swiss cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking spray for the air fryer basket
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Air Fryer:
    • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare Potatoes:
    • Peel and thinly slice the potatoes. Pat the slices dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
  3. Mix Cheeses:
    • In a bowl, mix together the shredded cheddar and Gruyere or Swiss cheeses.
  4. Layer Potatoes and Cheese:
    • In a separate bowl, layer the sliced potatoes with the mixed cheeses, creating alternating layers.
  5. Prepare Cream Mixture:
    • In another bowl, combine the heavy cream, minced garlic, melted butter, dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  6. Assemble in Air Fryer Basket:
    • Lightly coat the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place a layer of the potato-cheese mixture in the basket, then pour a portion of the cream mixture over it. Repeat until all ingredients are used.
  7. Air Fry:
    • Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 30 minutes or until the potatoes are tender, and the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  8. Check and Rotate:
    • Check halfway through the cooking time and, if needed, gently shake or rotate the basket for even cooking.
  9. Garnish and Serve:
    • Once done, let the au gratin potatoes rest for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired.
  10. Serve and Enjoy:
    • Serve the air fryer au gratin potatoes as a delicious side dish to your favorite meals.

Note:

  • Experiment with different cheese combinations to suit your taste preferences.
  • Ensure the potato slices are uniformly thin for even cooking.
  • Adjust the cooking time based on your specific air fryer model and wattage.
