WET BURRITOS RECIPE

Ingredients:

For the Burritos:

  • 1 pound ground beef or shredded cooked chicken

  • 1 can (15 ounces) black beans, drained and rinsed

Instructions:

1. Preheat the Oven:

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. Cook the Meat Filling:

a. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or shredded chicken until browned.

b. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, and cook until the onion is softened.

c. Stir in the taco seasoning, black beans, and cooked rice. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.

3. Prepare the Sauce:

a. In a saucepan, heat vegetable oil over medium heat.

b. Stir in the flour to create a roux, and cook for 1-2 minutes until lightly browned.

c. Gradually whisk in the chicken or beef broth, tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Simmer the sauce until it thickens, stirring occasionally.

4. Assemble the Burritos:

a. Spoon the meat filling onto each tortilla and sprinkle with shredded cheese.

b. Roll up the tortillas and place them seam-side down in a baking dish.

5. Pour Sauce Over Burritos:

a. Pour the prepared sauce over the assembled burritos, making sure they are well-covered.

6. Bake:

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the burritos are heated through and the sauce is bubbly.

7. Serve:

a. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.

b. Serve the wet burritos topped with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, chopped green onions, sour cream, sliced jalapeños, and chopped cilantro.
