Ingredients:

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 can (15 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Cook Pasta:
    • Cook the pasta shells according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Cook Ground Beef:
    • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
  3. Add Aromatics:
    • Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the ground beef. Cook until the onion is softened.
  4. Season and Spice:
    • Stir in dried oregano, dried basil, crushed red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and black pepper. Cook for another minute until the spices are fragrant.
  5. Tomato Sauce Base:
    • Pour in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, and beef broth. Stir well to combine. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for about 5 minutes.
  6. Add Cream:
    • Reduce the heat to low and add heavy cream to the skillet. Stir until well combined and let it simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  7. Cheese:
    • Stir in shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese until the cheese is melted and the sauce is creamy.
  8. Combine with Pasta:
    • Add the cooked pasta shells to the skillet, tossing them in the creamy beef sauce until well coated.
  9. Garnish and Serve:
    • Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and serve hot.
