Crustless Quiche

A crustless quiche is a versatile and easy-to-make dish that eliminates the need for a traditional pie crust. Here’s a basic recipe for a delicious crustless quiche:

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup spinach, chopped
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk (whole or any preferred type)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or your choice)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional additions: cooked and crumbled bacon, diced ham, cherry tomatoes, herbs, etc.

Instructions:

1. Preheat the Oven:

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. Sauté Vegetables:

a. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.

b. Add chopped onions, diced bell peppers, and sliced mushrooms. Sauté until the vegetables are softened.

c. Add chopped spinach and cook until wilted. Remove from heat and let the vegetables cool slightly.

3. Prepare the Egg Mixture:

a. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs and milk until well combined.

b. Stir in the shredded cheese.

c. Season the mixture with salt and pepper to taste.

4. Combine Ingredients:

a. Add the sautéed vegetables to the egg mixture. Mix well.

b. If using optional additions like bacon or ham, fold them into the mixture.

5. Grease Baking Dish:

a. Grease a pie dish or quiche pan with cooking spray or a small amount of oil.

6. Pour Mixture into Dish:

a. Pour the egg and vegetable mixture into the prepared baking dish.

7. Bake:

a. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the quiche is set in the center and the top is golden brown.

8. Cool and Slice:

a. Allow the crustless quiche to cool for a few minutes before slicing.

9. Serve:

a. Serve warm as a delightful breakfast, brunch, or light dinner.

10. Optional Garnish:

a. Garnish with fresh herbs or additional shredded cheese if desired.
