Pumpkin bread

Pumpkin bread is a delicious and comforting treat, especially during the fall season. Here’s a simple recipe for homemade pumpkin bread:

Ingredients:

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup canned pumpkin puree
  • 1/3 cup water

Optional Add-ins:

  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Instructions:

1. Preheat the Oven:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.

2. Combine Dry Ingredients:

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger. Set aside.

3. Cream Butter and Sugars:

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

4. Add Eggs and Vanilla:

Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated. Add the vanilla extract and mix well.

5. Add Pumpkin and Water:

Stir in the pumpkin puree until smooth. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with water. Begin and end with the dry ingredients, mixing just until combined.

6. Optional Add-ins:

If desired, fold in chopped nuts or chocolate chips.

7. Bake:

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake in the preheated oven for 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

8. Cool:

Allow the pumpkin bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

9. Slice and Serve:

Once cooled, slice the pumpkin bread and serve. Enjoy it as is or with a dollop of whipped cream or cream cheese!

This pumpkin bread is moist, flavorful, and perfect for breakfast or as a sweet treat with your favorite hot beverage. Feel free to customize it with your preferred add-ins for an extra layer of texture and flavor.
